What range can I expect the Tag to be read at

This is dependant on several conditions, firstly what type of Tag is being read a, passive tag can be read at up to 30ft when a fixed reader is being used but with a handheld reader which has a smaller reader head and less power 5 – 6 ft.  An active tag can be read at up to 300ft again depending on the type of antenna used on the active RFID reader.

Also you need to take into account the environment the tag is in, are there walls in the way of the reader, what metals and liquids are in the area etc… Dectag can provide a comprehensive RFID survey for your business.
