Are there different types of RFID?

Yes, there are two main types of RFID solutions; these are called Active and Passive RFID.  Both use an antenna built into the encapsulated tag, however an Active Tag requires its own power source (usually a battery) whilst a passive RFID tag transmits back after the tag antenna is stimulated by the readers signal.
