Are there any problems I need to know about using RFID?

Yes, RFID transmission range is affected by liquids and metals, typically you will find that you would need to use a tag designed to work on these or near these substances and that the range would be less than say on a tag attached to cardboard or wood.  Dectag provides a wide range of tags designed to combat these problems.
