Dectag's New Pallet Tag
Dectag have won a contract to trial a tough RFID/Bar Code tag for a Swiss retail giant. The new tag solution has been specifically developed for a new plastic pallet and will be tested over the coming months to allow the customer to track their assets within their equipment pool.
The pallet tag uses a polycarbonate encapsulation and to protect the RFID inlay and a special adhesive to allow rapid deployment. The RFID element of the tags was provided using the Alien Squiggle inlay and bar code uses GS1 data structure. For the initial trial each pallet has been fitted with four tags to test durability.
Strategic Sales Manager Philip Leslie stated "The project presented several challenges such as providing a high read range and small profile. The multiple variable data raised a few eyebrows and we needed to adapt our production processes to provide variable colour coding to ensure that tags sets were not mixed during the customers manual application of the tags". Following the trial Dectag hope to be supplying up tags for up to 100,000 pallets.
Dectag is a specialist RFID & Bar Code tag manufacturer and this project is an example of our ability to rapidly develop and deploy bespoke tag solutions. Dectag are Accredited Solution Providers of GS1 and provide solutions for logistics supply chain, automotive, healthcare to name a few.
